One of the great things about showering is obviously that it takes less time than bathing, while also (supposedly) getting you cleaner. Another is that it’s a part of your daily routine that gives you a few moments to yourself.
Most of us need a minute or two away from the family to decompress in the evenings, while a shower sometime between waking up and your first cup of coffee allows you to get your thoughts in order and mentally prepare yourself for the day. There are a number of decorations and scented products out there to enhance the experience and help take you out of your workaday mental space, but you can also add the sense of sound to the mix.
Imagine catching up with the news while you’re shampooing in the morning, or perhaps listening to something relaxing or upbeat when you get home. This splash-proof speaker allows you to do just that, and can also come in handy by the poolside or when boating. In fact, at about 4 inches square and 2 inches thick, this could conceivably be carried around in your pocket. It can even be used as a speakerphone.
Especially considering its small size, the sound quality is pretty good and it puts out up to 5 watts. It can connect to your phone or other device via Bluetooth from up to 30 feet away and also includes a standard audio connector. This brings us to a limitation that should have been easy for the manufacturer to address: there’s no built-in MP3 player, and adding a basic one probably wouldn’t have jacked up the price too much. Having to stream music from your phone isn’t a problem in the bathroom, of course, but it does limit this speaker’s usefulness on outdoor adventures.
There are, as you might know, dozens of similar products available that cost approximately the same. The reason we chose to review this one in particular simply comes down to quality: music is much crisper, the battery life of up to 10 hours is better than most competitors, and the warranty terms are unusually generous. That having been said, it’s advertised as water- and drop-resistant, not indestructible. Splashes or a quick dunk in the pool shouldn’t hurt it, but throwing it off a cliff into the ocean will render it inoperable.
