When it comes to decorations that are in any way kitschy, I’m usually not a fan. However, when something is handmade, creative, high-quality, and innovative, it’s really worth a second look.
This is, basically, a series of wavy rings that can rotate independently. In the center there hangs a holographic painting of a hummingbird, applied by hand.
You’re dependent on the weather elements to enjoy the WorldaWhirl, but whenever there’s wind, the whole spins, giving you a constantly shifting view in three dimensions:
Made of stainless steel, this ornament should be strong enough to withstand your cat’s attentions. It’s actually durable enough to be hung outdoors in case you want to make the neighbors jealous. This heavy-duty construction does, unfortunately, mean that it requires quite a strong breeze to move.
Of course, being hand-made, there’s also no guarantee that any particular unit will look exactly like the pictures, but most people who’ve bought one are very satisfied with their appearance. The paint used is highly reflective, meaning that they’re spectacular in the sunlight and still worth looking at in dim illumination – they are even known to attract curious birds. This might actually be a drawback for some people: if your current decor is more on the rustic and natural side, you might want to think carefully about whether this vibrant wind spinner will clash with it.
Multiple Designs
You can order either the 6½-inch version to place in a window, or the 12-inch version for a patio or other space. In fact, there are a number of options when it comes to designs and accessories, including a motor for indoor use. The artist even seems inclined to take on special requests, although this might end up taking some time.
